Charles (Clive Owen) has a schoolteacher wife and a daughter whose diabetes treatment is draining the family savings. A chance morning with the charming Lucinda (Jennifer Aniston) feels harmless enough. Then they book a room in a shabby hotel, and an armed stranger kicks the door in. What follows is blackmail with no clean exit: paying is impossible, confessing is unthinkable, and the thug (Vincent Cassel) keeps raising the price.
