Synopsis
Doc Hollywood (1991) is a breezy romantic comedy with Michael J. Fox that you can watch online on iFILM. Ben Stone, a sharp young surgeon, is driving cross-country to a high-paying plastic-surgery gig in Beverly Hills. Then he plows through a fence in the tiny town of Grady, South Carolina, and his fast track grinds to a halt.
The sentence: work off the damage as the town's stand-in doctor while his car gets fixed. Ben is furious — cows, county fairs, patients who pay for a checkup in fresh produce. Then he meets Lou, a local who sees straight through him and isn't dazzled by the big-city polish. Suddenly Beverly Hills looks a little less shiny. Around him are the crusty old Dr. Hogue (Barnard Hughes), a scheming mayor, and a very young Woody Harrelson as the insurance man chasing the same girl.
Director Michael Caton-Jones serves up a cozy fish-out-of-water tale — the exact blueprint later films would borrow from, Cars included.
