Synopsis
Lake Mungo (2009) is an Australian found-footage horror by Joel Anderson, and you can watch it online on iFILM. When sixteen-year-old Alice Palmer drowns at a local dam, the coroner rules it an accident. The Palmer house disagrees.
Shot like a true-crime documentary, the film lets the family speak straight to camera: grieving parents, a quiet brother, neighbors, a psychic. Footsteps come from an empty bedroom. A figure surfaces in home videos that nobody can place. As a parapsychologist digs in, the story bends — Alice, it turns out, had a hidden second life her family never suspected.
There are almost no jump scares here. The dread lives in grainy stills and long silences, in the slow realization that you can share a house with someone and never truly know them. Anderson's only feature barely registered on release, then grew into a cult favorite that regularly lands on lists of the most underrated horror films ever made.
