The Ring

Rachel starts digging into the deaths of four teenagers who all died at the same hour, exactly one week after watching the same unmarked videotape. She tracks down the tape. She watches it. The phone rings immediately — seven days. Then she discovers her eight-year-old son Aidan has seen it too. Now she's racing two clocks at once, tracing the footage back to a remote island farm, a family named Morgan and a girl no one will talk about.

Gore Verbinski adapted Hideo Nakata's 1998 Japanese original, itself based on Koji Suzuki's novel, into a rain-soaked Pacific Northwest thriller with a folk horror edge — static-heavy footage, a well, fields in the fog.
