Risen (2016), Kevin Reynolds' historical mystery, is available to watch online on iFILM. It takes a familiar Gospel account and tells it from an unexpected angle — through the eyes of a Roman skeptic ordered to track down a missing corpse.

Military tribune Clavius, played by Joseph Fiennes, has just overseen another execution on Golgotha. Three days later the tomb stands empty, rumors of a risen Messiah race through Jerusalem, and Pontius Pilate sends him to recover the body before the city erupts. With his young aide Lucius (Tom Felton), Clavius questions guards and followers, and the deeper he digs, the less his investigation behaves like a routine case.

Reynolds frames a biblical episode as a detective story about belief and doubt: the first forty days after the crucifixion play out as the methodical work of a man who trusts only evidence. Peter Firth's Pilate is a cold administrator who wants nothing but order restored.
