Synopsis
Sharpe's Regiment is a 1996 British TV film you can watch online on iFILM, with Sean Bean as Major Richard Sharpe. Directed by Tom Clegg, it's the eighth instalment in the cycle adapted from Bernard Cornwell's novels.
June, 1813. The South Essex Regiment has been reduced to eleven men — where Sharpe expected seven hundred waiting in England. He and Sergeant Harper cross the Channel to find out where the recruits vanished, and what they uncover is a conspiracy rooted deep in the War Office. Well-bred men with well-placed signatures are pulling the strings. The story is leaner than some entries in the series — no big battle setpiece, just Sharpe working the angles in Regency England — but that restraint is exactly the appeal: Bean's blunt-instrument soldier against an enemy who fights with paperwork.
