Synopsis
Night of the Eagle (1962) is a black-and-white British horror by Sidney Hayers, and you can watch it online on iFILM. A college professor who lives by reason discovers that his wife has quietly practiced magic for years.
Norman Taylor has no patience for superstition, so he hunts down every protective charm in the house and burns the lot. His wife Tansy begs him to stop — those charms, she insists, are all that keep the envy and scheming of his faculty rivals at bay. Once they're ashes, his luck curdles into a run of disasters, and something he refuses to believe in starts pressing at the door. Peter Wyngarde and Janet Blair play a marriage cracking along the fault line between logic and faith.
Richard Matheson and Charles Beaumont wrote the script from Fritz Leiber's novel Conjure Wife, which gives it a tight, almost argued logic rare for horror of its era. This is quiet, mounting dread with no gore — it scares you with doubt, not a monster. One for fans of old-school suspense. Stream Night of the Eagle (1962) online on iFILM.
