Synopsis
Slim Susie (Smala Sussie, 2003) is Ulf Malmros's Swedish crime comedy, free to watch online on iFILM. Erik, a Stockholm city type, gets word that his younger sister Susie has vanished, so he heads back to the rural town he once couldn't wait to leave.
Nothing at home is where he left it. The carefree kid sister in Erik's memory is gone, and in her place are rumours, missing cash and drugs. As he pokes around for the truth, he runs into a whole parade of country oddballs: a bashful video-store clerk, a local cop who'd rather look the other way, and a circle of old friends each sitting on a secret. The deeper he digs, the stranger it gets — and the backwoods teach Erik more about his own family than he ever wanted to know.
Malmros's breakout swept several Swedish film awards and grew into a quiet cult favourite at home. It stars Tuva Novotny and Michael Nyqvist, years before his turn in The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.
