About

Synopsis

Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991) is an action comedy directed by Mark L. Lester — watch it online on iFILM. Detective Chris Kenner (Dolph Lundgren) grew up in Japan: he speaks the language, follows the customs, and has a personal score to settle with the yakuza. His new partner Johnny Murata (Brandon Lee) is Japanese-American by birth and completely Californian by attitude.

The two are assigned to take down Yoshida (Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa), a yakuza drug lord who runs Los Angeles's Little Tokyo like his private kingdom. Lundgren breaks things with his bare hands, Lee delivers the one-liners, and the chemistry between them is the actual engine of the film. At 79 minutes it never overstays its welcome.
