Synopsis
The Living and the Dead (2006) is a British psychological horror directed by Simon Rumley — watch it online on iFILM. The film stars Leo Bill, Roger Lloyd-Pack, and Kate Fahy in a chamber piece set almost entirely inside a crumbling English manor.
Lord Donald needs money for his wife Nancy's operation and has to leave Longleigh House for a few days. The family nurse, Mary, is arranged to stay and care for her. But James — the family's adult son, mentally disabled and kept from the outside world — decides he doesn't need Mary. He locks her out and takes his mother's care into his own hands. With no one to monitor his medication, no structure to hold the weight of what he's taken on, James deteriorates. Fast. Rumley keeps the camera close and keeps everything grounded: no creatures, no supernatural logic — just a son who tried and a house too far gone to catch him when he falls.
