Synopsis
"Edge of the Axe" (Al filo del hacha, 1988) is a Spanish-American slasher directed by José Ramón Larraz that you can watch online on iFILM. A masked killer with an axe has been working through a Northern California mountain town.
The local sheriff writes each death off as an accident, even after the fifth. Two young residents — both fixated on their computers — start cross-referencing the cases themselves and get closer to the pattern than the department would like. Larraz, a Spanish director shooting on American locations, leans into suspense and motive over shock footage. The whodunit thread is what separates this from most slashers of the period.
