Three Identical Strangers

Three Identical Strangers (2018) is a British documentary you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Tim Wardle. In 1980 New York, three nineteen-year-olds — David Kellman, Robert Shafran and Eddy Galland — stumbled onto each other by accident and discovered they were identical triplets, raised in separate adoptive families with no knowledge of the others.

The reunion made headlines fast. Talk shows, magazine covers, bewildered parents. Then came the question no one would answer: why were they separated? The brothers started pulling at threads, and what came loose went well beyond their own story.

Wardle structures the film as a slow-burning reveal — each act reframes what came before it. By the end it has shifted from a joyful reunion story into something far darker, about the people who treated three human beings as variables in an experiment.
