Minuscule: Valley of the Lost Ants (2013) is a French-Belgian animated adventure directed by Hélène Giraud and Thomas Szabo — watch it online on iFILM. Someone left a box of sugar behind after a picnic, and now two ant colonies want it badly. A young ladybug stumbles into the middle of the conflict, joins forces with Mandible — the black ants' leader — and helps haul the prize back to the colony before the red ant army can take it.

What makes the film stand apart is its look: photorealistic live-action forest footage with CGI insects layered on top, so the bugs move through what feels like an actual French meadow. There is no dialogue. Every beat is told through insect body language, sound design, and movement — which turns out to work just fine for all ages.
