About

Synopsis

The Color of Money (1986) is Martin Scorsese's drama you can watch online on iFILM. Eddie Felson, once the sharpest pool hustler around, has been off the table for years, selling liquor for a living. Then he spots a kid who breaks the rack the way Eddie used to.

Eddie (Paul Newman) takes young Vincent (Tom Cruise) on as a student, and not out of kindness either. The money is the point. Vincent has the gift and the swagger, and that swagger drives his mentor up the wall, because in stakes pool a flashy showman loses more cash than a quiet loser ever does. They work the halls bar to bar, run scams, argue, split the take and split time with Vincent's girlfriend Carmen (Mary Elizabeth Mastrantonio). Then Eddie picks up a cue again, and finds himself racking against his own pupil.

This is Scorsese's sequel to the 1961 classic The Hustler, bringing Newman back to Felson a quarter-century later. The role finally won Paul Newman the Academy Award for Best Actor. Michael Ballhaus shoots the felt so the camera circles every shot like a line of dialogue. Stream The Color of Money (1986) online on iFILM.
