Synopsis

Taxi Driver (1976) is Martin Scorsese's crime drama you can watch online on iFILM. Vietnam veteran Travis Bickle takes the night shift behind the wheel of a New York City cab. The city he drives through is rotting under neon.

Travis can't sleep. He hauls drunks, dealers and street workers until the city's filth is all he sees. Robert De Niro plays a man who keeps a journal, does pushups at 3 a.m. and starts rehearsing in front of mirrors. An attempt to connect with campaign worker Betsy (Cybill Shepherd) falls apart fast. Then Travis fixates on Iris (Jodie Foster), a twelve-year-old kept by a pimp named Sport (Harvey Keitel). He decides to do something about it. That decision is where the film gets dangerous.

Scripted by Paul Schrader and shot by cinematographer Michael Chapman, the film features Bernard Herrmann's final score — a slow-burn jazz arrangement recorded weeks before his death. Taxi Driver won the Palme d'Or at Cannes and remains a defining work of 1970s American cinema. Stream Taxi Driver (1976) online on iFILM.
