He Never Died

He Never Died (2015) is a deadpan horror comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Musician Henry Rollins plays Jack, a withdrawn loner who has been alive far longer than anyone should be, and is thoroughly bored by it.

Jack's routine runs on autopilot: fourteen hours of sleep, bingo at the church hall, daytime TV, and bags of blood that hospital orderlies smuggle to him for cash. He barely speaks and keeps everyone at arm's length. Then a teenage daughter he never knew about turns up at his door, and figures from his past start dragging him back into the open. That's when it becomes clear what Jack actually is, and how badly it ends for anyone who pushes him.

Writer-director Jason Krawczyk builds the whole thing on tonal whiplash — a sluggish, depressive calm that snaps into sudden gore. Rollins anchors it with a granite stare, and half the comedy lives in his exhausted indifference. It's an odd little cult piece for fans of pitch-black humor.
