Synopsis
The Barkleys of Broadway (1949) is an MGM musical comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Director Charles Walters coaxed Fred Astaire and Ginger Rogers back together a full decade after their RKO run ended — their tenth and final film as a pair.
Josh and Dinah Barkley are Broadway royalty, their tap routines a guaranteed sellout. But Dinah is tired of playing the lighter half of the act. When a young French director offers her the role of Sarah Bernhardt in a serious stage production, Josh reads it as a rival on two fronts — professional and personal. The jealousy that follows is played for laughs, but the underlying ego war feels genuine.
