Synopsis
La casa stregata (The Haunted House, 1982) is an Italian horror-comedy you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Bruno Corbucci. Accountant Giorgio snaps up a suspiciously cheap villa for him and his new fiancée. The reason for the price becomes clear fast — the place is overrun with ghosts.
Beneath the hauntings is a thousand-year-old witch's curse laid on two doomed lovers. Giorgio's dog Gaetano is the one who breaks it all down for him, speaking in a perfectly calm human voice as if this were completely ordinary. Renato Pozzetto plays Giorgio with his trademark baffled deadpan, Gloria Guida is the bride-to-be.
The horror elements are mostly beside the point — Corbucci is after laughs, and the film finds them at the kind of loose, unhurried Italian pace where a talking dog barely raises an eyebrow. That shaggy nonchalance is exactly what makes it work. Stream The Haunted House online on iFILM.
