Synopsis
Pandora (2016) is a South Korean disaster film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Park Jung-woo. Jae-hyeok works at an aging nuclear plant in a small town and dreams only of getting away from the reactor that feeds his whole family. Then a magnitude-six quake rattles the site, and the cooling system cracks open.
What follows is a crisis no one prepared for. The plant is worn out, the safety manuals useless, and officials in the capital stall and hide the true scale from the public. Kim Nam-gil plays an ordinary laborer who descends into the burning reactor with a handful of coworkers, knowing he may not climb back out. Above ground, his mother, his girlfriend, and the entire town wait for an evacuation that never seems to come.
The film arrived a year before nuclear safety became a charged political issue in Korea, and it hits the same nerve Fukushima did. This is loud, tear-wringing cinema about small people and the cowardice of those in charge — not a quiet drama. If Train to Busan or The Tunnel worked on you, this lands hard.
