Space Sweepers

Space Sweepers (승리호, 2021) is a Korean sci-fi blockbuster from director Jo Sung-hee, ready to watch online on iFILM. By 2092 Earth is choking on its own filth and the UTS corporation is building a clean new Mars — a paradise reserved for the chosen few. The ragtag crew of the salvage ship Victory did not make the list.

They scrape by hauling orbital junk while their debts pile higher. Con artist Tae-ho (Song Joong-ki), hard-edged Captain Jang (Kim Tae-ri), grizzled mechanic Tiger Park and a wisecracking robot fight over every credit. Then they pull a small android girl named Dorothy from the wreckage and learn she is wanted as a weapon of mass destruction. The plan is simple: sell her and get rich. Nothing about it stays simple.

This was Korea's first space adventure on a scale like this, with Hollywood-grade effects and a multilingual crew that bickers through earpiece translators. Under the dogfights and explosions sits a surprisingly soft story about a found family. Loud, messy, a little corny, and easy to love.
