Forces of Nature

Forces of Nature (1999) is Bronwen Hughes' romantic comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Ben has two days to get from New York to Savannah for his own wedding, but every mile of the trip seems determined to stop him.

Ben Affleck plays the groom, a jittery writer who churns out the blurbs on book jackets and dreads any kind of change. His plane nearly crashes on takeoff, a hurricane grounds every later flight, and he ends up stranded with a free-spirited stranger named Sara. Sandra Bullock takes that role and sets the pace — buses, hitched rides, a borrowed car, a strip club, each leg of the journey turning into a fresh mess. The closer Savannah gets, the less sure Ben is about the woman waiting for him there.

This is a breezy late-90s road movie that runs on the chemistry between its two leads and an ending that plays straighter than the genre's usual sugar rush. No big ambitions, just a pleasant bittersweet streak and Bullock's easy charm. A fine pick for a low-key night when you want a rom-com that isn't cloying.
