Synopsis

Lyn and her daughter Iona move to a small English town, both wide open to making it work. Iona falls in with a group of girls at school who keep her just close enough to use as a target. Lyn, left out as Iona drifts away, makes her own attempt at friendship with a neighbour — and finds cruelty is not limited to teenagers. Haywood frames both storylines in a heightened, slightly off-kilter register: somewhere between kitchen-sink realism and folk horror.
Scanlan holds the whole thing together — she plays Lyn's brittle optimism without tipping into pathos. Not an easy watch, and not trying to be. Stream Pin Cushion (2018) on iFILM.
