Up for Love

Up for Love (Un homme à la hauteur, 2016) is a French romantic comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Lawyer Diane loses her phone, and the stranger who finds it calls to return it, charming her over the course of a couple of conversations before they've even met.

The voice belongs to Alexandre: sharp, easygoing, with a faultless sense of humor. They set up a date, and then comes the surprise that throws Diane completely: Alexandre stands just four foot six. Jean Dujardin, the man from The Artist, plays him with no self-pity at all, all confidence and warmth, while Virginie Efira plays a woman caught between how she feels and how much other people's stares get to her. Her ex-husband smirks, her colleagues whisper, and Diane has to work out whose opinion actually matters.

Director Laurent Tirard remade the Argentine comedy Corazón de león (2013), shrinking Dujardin with visual effects and body doubles. It's a light evening watch that forgives its own predictability for the chemistry between the two leads.
