Synopsis
Nicholas on Holiday (Les Vacances du Petit Nicolas, 2014) is a French family comedy from director Laurent Tirard that you can watch online on iFILM. It's the follow-up to the beloved screen versions of the Goscinny and Sempé stories.
The school year is over at last. Nicholas (Mathéo Boisselier) heads to the seaside with his parents and grandmother, settling into the Hotel Beau-Rivage. Beach, woods, a fresh crowd of friends and a whole summer to fill. The gang is a colorful one: local boy Blaise, ever-chewing Fructueux, the English kid Djodjo with his funny accent, the weepy Crépin and the insufferable know-it-all Christophe. Then along comes Isabelle, who shadows Nicholas everywhere, and the grownups start joking about wedding bells. For a small boy that's a catastrophe, so his loyal pals leap to the rescue with the most ridiculous schemes they can dream up.
It keeps the same warm 1950s feel as the first film: sunshine, bicycles and innocent kid intrigue. Kad Merad and Valérie Lemercier play the parents. A light pick for a family evening, where the adults recognize their own childhood and the kids just laugh. Stream Nicholas on Holiday (2014) online on iFILM.
