Synopsis
The Grinch (2018) is an animated family comedy from Illumination you can watch online on iFILM. The grumpy green recluse lives in a cave on top of Mount Crumpit with his loyal dog Max, doing his best to hate every holiday. Down below, the citizens of Whoville are gearing up for their loudest, brightest celebration of the year.
Booming carols, lights on every roof, nonstop cheer — it's all too much for the Grinch. So he cooks up a plan: disguise himself, slip into town, and steal the holiday from everyone at once. Benedict Cumberbatch voices the green schemer in the original version. Along the way he crosses paths with little Cindy Lou, a girl wishing for a very different kind of gift than her neighbors.
This is a fresh, hand-drawn-style take on the Dr. Seuss classic, following the earlier live-action film with Jim Carrey. Directors Yarrow Cheney and Scott Mosier lean less on villainy and more on why the Grinch ended up so alone and sour. A light 86-minute movie that plays for kids and grown-ups alike.
