Close (2022) is Lukas Dhont's Belgian drama, available to watch online on iFILM. Léo and Rémi are thirteen and inseparable — racing bikes through flower fields, sharing a bed, inventing stories only the two of them understand. Then summer ends, a new school begins, and something shifts.

Classmates notice how close the boys are and ask a question that had never crossed their minds before. Rattled by the staring, Léo starts pulling away from his friend, abruptly and with a child's cruelty. That small fracture opens into a loss that neither family recovers from. Émilie Dequenne plays Rémi's mother, trying to understand what happened and hold on to the boy who's left.

The film took the Grand Prix at Cannes and made the Oscar shortlist for Best International Feature. Dhont shoots in tight close-ups and lets silence carry the weight — a study of tenderness between boys, peer pressure and the way shame can quietly break a friendship.
