Riders of Justice

Riders of Justice (2020) is a Danish film from director Anders Thomas Jensen that you can watch online on iFILM. One genre won't cover it: this is an action movie, a pitch-black comedy, and a grief drama at once, and Mads Mikkelsen carries the whole strange blend.

Soldier Markus loses his wife in a train crash. At first it reads as a random accident. Then a twitchy data analyst named Otto, who survived the same wreck, shows up with numbers: the odds of coincidence are almost nil. Markus, a man of fists rather than statistics, decides it was a planned hit. Otto and a couple of jittery misfits fall in beside him, and the group sets out to deal justice — without really grasping what they've walked into.

Jensen folds bloody revenge into conversations about probability, trauma, and chance, and somehow lands the funny and the painful in the same breath. Nikolaj Lie Kaas and Nicolas Bro pile on the absurdity. A great fit if you like Scandinavian genre films with a double bottom and don't mind whiplash tonal shifts.
