Synopsis

The Darjeeling Limited (2007) is a comedy-drama directed by Wes Anderson that you can watch online on iFILM. Three brothers haven't spoken since their father's funeral a year earlier. The oldest, Francis (Owen Wilson), has laminated an eleven-page itinerary and booked them all onto a luxury train crossing Rajasthan — a spiritual journey that will, he insists, make them a family again.

Peter (Adrien Brody) packed their late father's razor and someone else's passport. Jack (Jason Schwartzman) writes short stories about his own life and insists they're fiction. The brothers argue, partially reconcile, drink Indian cough syrup at breakfast, and manage to get thrown off the train in the middle of the desert. Anderson wraps a genuine story about grief and sibling guilt in the same deadpan color-coded visual style he'd developed through Rushmore and The Royal Tenenbaums — but the Indian landscape gives the whole thing more weight than a set ever could.

Shot on location in Rajasthan aboard actual Indian Railways trains, the film was released through Fox Searchlight Pictures. Cinematographer Robert D. Yeoman and a soundtrack of 1960s Indian film music anchor the look and feel. Bill Murray appears in the very first scene, says almost nothing, and still manages to set the tone.
