Synopsis
JCVD (2008) is a crime drama starring Jean-Claude Van Damme that you can watch online on iFILM. The aging action star plays a battered version of himself: career fading, locked in a custody fight with his ex, watching roles slip away to Steven Seagal.
Van Damme heads home to Brussels to catch his breath. He stops at a post office to pull out some cash and walks straight into a hostage robbery in progress. To the police and cameras outside, the famous face at the door looks like the mastermind. Inside, a man who only ever fought on a soundstage is staring down very real guns.
Director Mabrouk El Mechri cracks the genre open from within. Midway through, Van Damme literally rises above the set and delivers a six-minute, unbroken monologue to the lens about his life, his addictions, his failures — a scene critics quoted for years. A surprisingly raw, self-lacerating film for anyone who grew up on Bloodsport. Stream JCVD (2008) online on iFILM.
