Synopsis
The Clan (El clan, 2015) is Pablo Trapero's crime drama, available to watch online on iFILM. In a comfortable suburb of Buenos Aires lives the Puccio family: a tidy home, a rugby-star son, a spotless reputation. Behind it runs a business built on kidnapping and murder.
The father, Arquímedes Puccio, calls every shot — a former intelligence operative who rules the household and folds his children into the crimes as if they were ordinary chores. His eldest, Alejandro, a celebrated player on Argentina's national rugby squad, lures victims from among his wealthy friends, and the captives are kept in the cellar while dinner is served upstairs. The horror is in how mundane it all feels: an abduction slotted between practice and Sunday lunch. Guillermo Francella, long known for comedy, plays the patriarch with a flat stare and a quiet voice that chills the room.
It draws on the real case that gripped Argentina in the early 1980s, as the country crawled out from under its military dictatorship.
