Synopsis

The Stuff (1985) is Larry Cohen's satirical horror romp, ready to watch online on iFILM. A sweet white goo bubbles up from the ground, somebody tastes it, and soon a dessert called the Stuff is wiping ice cream off every shelf in America.

The catch: the treat is alive, and it slowly devours the people who can't stop eating it. Rattled dairy executives hire ex-FBI man David Rutherford, nicknamed Mo (Michael Moriarty), to find out what the Stuff actually is. He teams up with ad executive Nicole and a kid named Jason, the only one who's seen the product crawl across his own kitchen. The deeper they dig, the clearer it gets that no factory is making this thing.

Cohen wraps a sharp jab at advertising and consumer culture inside a low-budget creature feature loaded with foamy practical effects. Danny Aiello and Paul Sorvino turn up in small roles. It's a treat for fans of absurd, knowingly trashy 1980s horror with a message hiding under the slime. Stream The Stuff online on iFILM.
