Synopsis
Q: The Winged Serpent (1982) is Larry Cohen's horror-crime oddity, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Something with wings nests above Manhattan and snatches window washers and sunbathers off the rooftops. Down on the street, detectives chase a killer who keeps flaying victims alive.
Detective Shepard, played by David Carradine, ties the deaths to a revived cult of the Aztec god Quetzalcoatl. The feathered serpent is real, and someone is feeding it. Meanwhile small-time crook Jimmy Quinn (Michael Moriarty) stumbles onto the creature's lair high inside the Chrysler Building while ducking his old crew. Suddenly he's the only man who knows where the monster sleeps, and he tries to ransom that secret to City Hall.
Cohen shot the film guerrilla-style over real Manhattan streets, with stop-motion bringing the serpent to life on a shoestring. Under the cheap monster-movie surface sits a wickedly funny script and a genuinely twitchy Moriarty performance. Made for anyone who loves inventive low-budget creature features and grimy early-'80s New York. Stream Q: The Winged Serpent (1982) online on iFILM.
