Synopsis
Baise-moi (2000) is a French crime thriller you can watch online on iFILM. Novelist Virginie Despentes adapted her own book and co-directed with Coralie Trinh Thi, and the result was banned or cut in several countries on release.
Manu and Nadine come from the bottom of the social ladder. Both have lived through abuse, humiliation and loss, and at a certain point they simply stop absorbing any of it. A chance meeting pairs them up, and they tear off across France leaving robbery and bodies behind. There's no romance to the rampage here. The directors shoot it raw and flat, almost like reportage, and Karen Lancaume and Raffaëla Anderson play it with a stare that never softens for the audience.
People often call it a brutal answer to Thelma & Louise, which is only half right, since this film offers no gloss and no catharsis. It's a provocation made for prepared viewers, packed with explicit sex and violence, and not for the squeamish. Stream Baise-moi (2000) online on iFILM.
