About

Synopsis

The Man with Two Brains (1983) is Carl Reiner's sci-fi comedy, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Steve Martin stars as a celebrity brain surgeon who pioneered the screw-top method of cranial surgery, then falls head over heels for a brain. An actual brain in a jar.

Dr. Hfuhruruhr marries a gold-digging knockout (Kathleen Turner) who promptly makes his life miserable. Relief arrives in the lab of an eccentric scientist (David Warner), where a talking disembodied brain named Anne floats in a container, and the surgeon loses his heart to her. The plan: transplant her mind into a fresh body.

This is one of the most underrated Reiner-Martin collaborations after The Jerk, a free-flowing run of nonsense, terrible puns and horror-movie spoofs, with Turner clearly relishing the femme-fatale shtick. The humor is gleefully dumb on purpose, and that's the whole appeal. If old-school absurdist comedy is your wavelength, this one delivers. Stream The Man with Two Brains (1983) online on iFILM.
