About

Synopsis

The Princess Bride (1987) is a fantasy adventure comedy directed by Rob Reiner — watch online on iFILM. Cary Elwes plays Westley, a farm boy who vanishes at sea and returns years later as the masked Dread Pirate Roberts to rescue the woman he loves, Buttercup, played by Robin Wright.

Buttercup has been kidnapped by the scheming Prince Humperdinck, who needs a bride for a very political wedding. To reach her, Westley must fight a duel with Inigo Montoya (Mandy Patinkin), a swordsman hunting the six-fingered man who killed his father, outwit the overconfident Vizzini (Wallace Shawn), and overpower the gentle giant Fezzik (André Roussimoff). The film runs exactly 98 minutes and wastes none of them.

Screenwriter William Goldman adapted his own 1973 novel; the film underperformed at the box office in 1987 and spent the next three decades becoming one of the most quoted family movies ever made. Billy Crystal's Miracle Max alone is worth the watch. Stream The Princess Bride (1987) in full on iFILM.
