The hosts never arrive. In their place a gramophone record crackles to life, a flat voice accusing each of the ten guests of a death they got away with. A storm cuts the island off from the mainland, and then the killing begins — one by one, exactly as the nursery rhyme about ten little soldiers, framed on every wall, foretells. The trapped guests include Charles Dance, Aidan Turner, Miranda Richardson, Toby Stephens and Sam Neill, each nursing a buried guilt, leaving everyone a suspect.

Director Craig Viveiros stretches the story across three taut episodes and restores Christie's bleak, unforgiving ending that earlier versions softened.
