The Outsider (Season 1)

The Outsider (2020) is a dark crime series you can watch online on iFILM. A boy of eleven is found brutally murdered in a small town, and every piece of evidence points to Little League coach Terry Maitland.

Detective Ralph Anderson (Ben Mendelsohn) arrests Terry in front of a crowd, certain of the case. Then it falls apart. The suspect has an ironclad alibi — recordings and dozens of witnesses place him in another city at the exact hour of the killing. No man can be in two places at once, yet the forensics insist he was. An unconventional private investigator, Holly Gibney (Cynthia Erivo), joins the case and starts noticing what a rational cop would rather ignore. The cast also includes Bill Camp, Julianne Nicholson, Paddy Considine and Jason Bateman, who directed the opening episodes.

Adapted from the Stephen King novel, the show lets an ordinary procedural slide toward horror, where the logic of evidence runs into something that has no explanation.
