About

Synopsis

Tae Guk Gi: The Brotherhood of War (2004) is Kang Je-gyu's epic Korean War drama, and you can watch it online on iFILM. In the summer of 1950 the fighting tears across the peninsula, and one ordinary Seoul family is ripped apart almost overnight.

Older brother Jin-tae (Jang Dong-gun) shines shoes to pay for his younger brother Jin-seok's schooling. When both are dragged onto a train of raw conscripts and dumped at the Nakdong River, Jin-tae makes a bargain with himself: he'll volunteer for the deadliest missions, win enough medals, and trade them for his brother's discharge home. Every decoration pulls him further from the man he was — and from Jin-seok (Won Bin), who grows afraid of what his brother is becoming.

The film shattered box-office records in South Korea and ranked among the most expensive Asian productions of its day, staging the Nakdong battles with thousands of extras and zero restraint. If Saving Private Ryan hit you hard, this delivers the same mud and dread, seen through the eyes of a country split in two. Stream Tae Guk Gi (2004) online on iFILM.
