Synopsis
The Flood (Le Déluge, 2024) is a French-Italian historical drama from Gianluca Jodice you can watch online on iFILM. It follows the final weeks of Louis XVI and Marie Antoinette, held under guard while the revolution decides what to do with them.
The summer of 1792. Yesterday's masters of Versailles are shut inside the grim Temple tower, waiting for a trial. The gold, the ceremonies, the army of servants are gone; what remains is a family behind stone walls with nothing to fill the hours but dread. Guillaume Canet plays a king stripped of his power and left alone with himself for the first time, while Mélanie Laurent gives the queen a straight back even as the ground falls away beneath her. The camera barely steps outside — the whole story unfolds in cramped rooms where silence rings louder than the guillotine.
Jodice isn't filming a textbook on the revolution but an intimate tragedy about people born to command and suddenly stripped of everything. Slow, cold and beautiful, it rewards anyone who loves period drama for its atmosphere rather than its battle scenes. Stream The Flood (2024) online on iFILM.
