Synopsis
Fist of Legend (1994) is a Hong Kong martial-arts film you can watch online on iFILM, directed by Gordon Chan. Jet Li takes on Chen Zhen, the hero Bruce Li made famous decades earlier.
The setting is early-1900s Shanghai under Japanese occupation. Chen is studying in Japan when word reaches him that his teacher, the master of the Jingwu school, died in a public match. The official story calls it a fair fight; Chen doesn't buy a word of it. He exposes the cover-up, squares off against an entire garrison, and falls for a Japanese woman, Mitsuko, which angers people on both sides. What follows is a run of duels where private revenge keeps bumping into national pride, and the hero refuses to hate a whole nation.
The fights were choreographed by Yuen Woo-ping, who would later stage The Matrix, and it shows: clean technique, no wires faking the impact, no digital touch-ups. Plenty of fans rank it above the original Fist of Fury for exactly that reason. For anyone into classic kung fu cinema, it's essential. Stream Fist of Legend (1994) online on iFILM.
