Synopsis
The Love Bug (1968) is the Disney family comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Down-on-his-luck racer Jim Douglas brings home a little white Volkswagen Beetle numbered 53, never guessing the car has a mind, a temper, and a heart of its own.
His name is Herbie, and he can pop his own doors, sulk, throw a tantrum, and outrun flashy sports cars on the track. Jim is sure he's the one winning the races and nearly loses his loyal machine because of it. Meanwhile a smug rival, Peter Thorndyke, schemes to snatch the wonder car for himself. The cast features Dean Jones, Michele Lee, and David Tomlinson as the silky villain.
Director Robert Stevenson, fresh off Mary Poppins, kicked off a whole franchise here: a string of sequels, a TV series, and a later reboot with Lindsay Lohan.
