Navy bomb expert Ford Brody has barely settled back home in San Francisco when duty drags him to Japan. There his father Joe, an engineer haunted by a power-plant disaster everyone blamed on an earthquake, has spent years insisting the official story was a lie. He was right. Radiation-feeding creatures tear loose from the earth, and the only force that can answer them is a colossus mankind long wrote off as legend. Cities collapse, the military stalls, and Ford fights his way back toward his wife Elle (Elizabeth Olsen) and their son.

Edwards holds his monster back, hiding Godzilla in smoke and rain so the dread builds long before the reveal. The cast also folds in Juliette Binoche, Sally Hawkins and David Strathairn, while the film itself relaunched Hollywood's whole kaiju universe. Stream Godzilla (2014) online on iFILM.
