Synopsis

My Darling Clementine (1946) is John Ford's western, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Wyatt Earp and his brothers are driving cattle across Arizona when they camp for the night near Tombstone — and wake to find the youngest dead and the herd gone.

Wyatt (Henry Fonda) pins on the marshal's badge less for law than for payback. In town he falls in with Doc Holliday, the tubercular gambler and surgeon whom Victor Mature plays raw, like a man who has already given up on himself. Between them stands Clementine, the nurse who once followed Doc out West. Everything builds toward the famous gunfight at the O.K. Corral, but Ford is in no hurry: he spends more screen time on silence, a church dance, and long looks than on shooting.

This is one of the quietest and most beautiful westerns of its era — about honor, loss, and the slow effort to plant a town in the dust. Fonda acts here almost without words, carrying scenes on posture alone. Essential for anyone who loves classic Hollywood and the genre at its peak.
