Synopsis
A Prayer Before Dawn (2018) is Jean-Stéphane Sauvaire's brutal prison drama you can watch online on iFILM. British boxer Billy Moore lands behind bars in Thailand, inside a jail whispered about in the worst terms imaginable. Heroin, gangs, bodies on the concrete.
Billy speaks none of the language and knows none of the rules, so every day is just a fight to reach morning alive. His way out turns out to be the same thing that could kill him: the prison's underground Muay Thai bouts. Fists, elbows, knees, that's the only currency anyone here respects. Joe Cole acts almost without dialogue, running on breath and blood alone, while the camera stays so tight you feel locked in the cell with him.
It actually happened. The real Billy Moore later wrote about this hell in a memoir and turns up in a small role onscreen. Sauvaire shot inside a working Thai prison with genuine inmates in frame, and that documentary grime makes the whole thing punishingly real. This isn't comfort viewing, it's an ordeal, and a powerful one. Stream A Prayer Before Dawn (2018) online on iFILM.
