Down a Dark Hall

Down a Dark Hall (2018) is Rodrigo Cortes's supernatural thriller, and you can watch it online on iFILM. Kit Gordy, a troubled teen who can't move past her father's death, keeps lashing out until she's shipped off to the secluded Blackwood boarding school.

AnnaSophia Robb plays the girl who arrives at the gloomy estate to find only five students in the whole place. The headmistress, Madame Duret — a chilly, imperious Uma Thurman with a French lilt — vows to draw out a hidden gift in each of them. And the talents do bloom: one girl suddenly paints like an old master, another cracks impossible equations, a third sits down and plays piano cold. But it all comes too easily, and at night strange voices drift through the halls. Kit is the first to sense where this brilliance is really coming from.

Adapted from Lois Duncan's novel, the film weaves a gothic boarding school together with ghosts hunting for living hands to borrow. Cortes leans on candlelit dread and the bones of the old mansion rather than jump scares. It's a good fit for fans of moody teen horror with a classic gothic streak.
