Synopsis
Stomp the Yard (2007) is a dance drama you can watch online on iFILM. Grieving his younger brother, L.A. street dancer DJ trades a juvenile sentence for a fresh start at a historically Black university in Atlanta.
On campus he discovers stepping — the percussive call-and-response art of stomps, claps and synchronized footwork that Black fraternities have perfected over generations. DJ's raw street style turns heads fast. Two rival fraternities recruit him for the national step show, while he chases the girl he likes (Meagan Good) and tries not to lose sight of why he came. Columbus Short leads, with R&B singers Ne-Yo and Chris Brown rounding out the cast.
Director Sylvain White builds the whole thing around motion: the step battles are shot for maximum kinetic punch and they're the reason to press play. The plot follows the usual underdog beats, but the dancing is the real deal. One for anyone who loves street choreography and a hungry outsider proving himself.
