Synopsis
Now Is Good (2012) is a British drama you can watch online on iFILM, with Dakota Fanning as seventeen-year-old Tessa, who has lived with leukemia for years and decides to spend whatever time is left on her own terms.
Tessa writes a list of everything she wants to do before she goes: fall for someone, taste the forbidden, break a few rules. Her father (Paddy Considine) clings to every treatment and every shred of hope, her mother is long gone, and her best friend Zoey eggs her toward recklessness. Then Adam (Jeremy Irwin) moves in next door, and a tidy plan to live loudly turns into the kind of real feeling Tessa never accounted for.
Director Ol Parker adapts Jenny Downham's novel Before I Die without the syrup that usually coats teen illness dramas. Fanning plays it in half-tones, and the ending lands hard precisely because nothing about it feels staged. Stream Now Is Good (2012) online on iFILM.
