Synopsis
Frontier(s) (Frontière(s), 2007) is Xavier Gens' brutal French horror film, and you can watch online on iFILM. As riots tear through Paris after a bitter election, four young thieves grab a bag of cash and run. They need somewhere to lie low. They pick the wrong roadside inn.
The place belongs to a tight-knit clan out in the middle of nowhere. Friendly hosts, a hot meal, rooms to spare. Then come the cellar, the chains, and a patriarch with a Nazi past hunting for pure blood to breed his line. Pregnant Yasmine, played by Karina Testa, becomes the prize in the slaughter and the only one with a real reason to keep fighting. From there it barely lets up: a chase through tunnels, a blowtorch, and a family dinner you do not want a seat at.
The movie landed in the New French Extremity wave beside Martyrs and Inside, and it earns the company. Plenty of blood, grime and dread, zero jokes. It was so savage that US distribution went unrated. Skip it if you're squeamish or want background noise. This is a tight, mean survival horror for viewers who go looking for the hard stuff.
