Synopsis
The Beach Bum (2019) is Harmony Korine's sun-baked comedy you can watch online on iFILM. Somewhere in Florida lives a poet called Moondog — perpetually stoned, perpetually in flip-flops, and utterly allergic to growing up.
Matthew McConaughey plays him as one long party: beer, weed, a typewriter and a book of poems that never quite gets finished. Moondog has a wealthy wife (Isla Fisher), an exasperated publisher, and a parade of oddballs orbiting him — Snoop Dogg's mellow rapper, Zac Efron's unhinged daredevil, Martin Lawrence's preachy boat-tour captain. Plot is almost beside the point; the man simply drifts from one absurd scrape to the next.
Korine isn't telling a story so much as bottling a mood: a loose, neon-lit haze where the meaning lives in the drifting itself.
