Synopsis

Bringing Down the House (2003) is a culture-clash comedy you can watch online on iFILM, with Steve Martin and Queen Latifah as the most mismatched pair in town. Buttoned-up tax attorney Peter Sanderson, freshly divorced, tries online dating and expects a refined fellow lawyer. What shows up at his door is Charlene — loud, blunt, and recently escaped from prison.

Charlene swears she was framed and wants Peter to clear her name, whether he likes it or not. He has everything to lose: his job, his ex-wife, his kids, and a nosy neighbor itching to report him. Meanwhile she turns his pressed-and-polished suburban routine upside down. Eugene Levy steals scene after scene as a colleague who falls hard for her, fast.

Directed by Adam Shankman, the whole thing rides on the leads. The stiffer Martin plays it, the bigger Latifah swings, and that gap is where the laughs live. No hidden depths here, just a breezy night-in comedy that knows exactly what it is. Stream Bringing Down the House (2003) online on iFILM.
